4 Common Mistakes in Training and Nutrition

When it comes to training it is not as easy or simple as it seems. It's not just about going to the gym and lift heavy weights. It is not just about following popular nutrition program. It is more than that. If you are hitting plateau or exercise and nutrition programs are not working for you, it may be good to check what you could be missing. Following are the 4 common mistake that I have been witnessing in my over two decades of training career.

The Perfect Plan

Ever since the online training became popular, so many trainers and nutritionists went online and working on crafting The program to provide services for their audience across the globe. Just like any programs out there, it works for some people and does not work for the others, and after awhile they don't work at all. One thing we need to keep in mind is there is no perfect plan. The plan is combination of programs you've done, doing, and will be doing that creates on going results. Reason why there is no perfect plan is because our body changes day by day in a good way or sometimes in a bad way. How many of you ever experienced linear progression, not just in training but anything in life? Even when you plan everything and worked the plan as it is written, you will still have ups and downs because the plan will eventually needs altering and that is life. Training or nutrition is no different. No matter how well the program is written, it will be outdated very quickly.

Quantity over Quality

There's too many trainers and trainees who has not concept of quality training and just wanting to show off their knowledge and skills. Any exercise you perform has to be detail oriented rather than focusing on how much weight and how many repetitions you were able to do. This is the difference between training and workout. Workout is just lifting weight and counting reps. Training is focusing on fine detail and improve the performance of each exercise before worrying about weight and repetitions. Both have it's own benefit, however, if the quality of exercise does not exist, then the quality of training or workout does not exist. This is same with a diet. Many professionals focusing so much on food and nutrients amount like calories and macro splits and forgetting about the quality of the food sources. Quality meat, fish, vegetables, fruits will always have better health benefit over fake foods even if those fake foods has lesser calories. If you are having difficulty seeing results, check the quality.

Working Through Sickness and Injuries

Let's face it. We all get sick or have injuries somewhere in our life. I do understand that many of us, including myself would keep on going even under a condition that we should not be exercising. Working through injuries or illness does not prove that you are strong but slowing down your potential growth and may cause more issues. Please do consult.

Failing to See the Fine Details

Have you ever purchased something that you thought you need it but no longer use it anymore? Exercise and nutrition are the same. People look for information that they think they need and follow even if it does not work for them. Typically, after awhile they stop following all together. When I create program, exercise or nutrition, everything counts. My client's feedback, effort, results, movement pattern, sleep, water intake, blood work, hormonal balance and so forth. If you are struggling to see a progress, pay attention to fine details. Sometimes you may be improving without you knowing. For example, you may not see pound loss on the scale but your cloth may be fitting better. You may have underlying condition that may be hindering your progress and may need to properly examined by the medical experts.
